Eyecare for Children
Often, there are no signs that a child has a vision problem, making regular eye examinations very important. Young children do not have the experience necessary to know what is normal as far as their vision is concerned; they often assume that everyone sees things the way they do.

Referrals
As the primary care service for vision in Ontario no referral is needed for most eye examinations. Some patients like diabetics are referred by their primary care doctor or nurse for a more thorough dilated examination. Other optometrists may also refer patients for additional testing like pachymetry, visual field testing, corneal topography or OCT.
